My Everyday Skincare and Makeup Routine

I am definitely by no means a makeup artist. I do love to watch make-up tutorials and tricks online, but there are probably a sea-full of 13 year old girls that would school me with their eye-shadow game. Because of my very busy lifestyle, my skincare and makeup routines are fairly easy and quick. I have recently received a lot of requests to make this article, and I’m not entirely sure why, but here it is.

Skin Care Routine

Like my makeup, my skincare routine is pretty basic. The only products I religiously use for my skin are Lush Kalamazoo Beard and Facial Wash, and Pond’s Dry Skin Cream.

I have been using these products for all of my adult life and they are my absolute favorite. I love the facial wash because all of the ingredients are natural and vegan. I feel like a lot of facial cleansers have chemicals that dry out your face and lead to breakouts. I love the moisturizer because it smells so good, and it provides just the right amount of moisture. You can find this moisturizer at almost any drugstore, Walmart, Target, etc.

I use these products twice a day, everyday. Sometimes I will use sheets masks or clay masks whenever I get them in my Ipsy bag, but these two products are my only consistent skin care products.

Accutane

When I was a junior in high school I had REALLY bad acne. I tried almost every topical and medicinal form of acne preventative there was and my only option left was Accutane. Well, it wasn’t literally Accutane because they discontinued that actual brand after people started showing signs of serious health problems, so it was an off-brand of Accutane. It was a very serious drug, and I was continually monitored while I was on it. I wasn’t allowed to go in the sun, I had to eat very healthy to keep my cholesterol down, and I had to be on birth-control because the drug caused serious birth defects. My skin was very dry and fragile while I was on this medicine. I had to constantly use heavy duty chap stick because my lips were so dry. I had to get my blood drawn once a month so they could check my levels and make sure that I was taking the birth control. I was on the medicine for about 6-9 months. Although it was a very difficult process, it completely changed my life. My acne was completely cured. Although I still breakout around my time of the month, or whenever I’m dealing with stress, my skin is still very clear which allows me to have a very easy skin-care routine. Accutane is DEFINITELY not for everyone and your dermatologist will only put you on it if it is the very last option.

Everyday Makeup Routine

So as you will see from my video, my everyday makeup routine is pretty basic. This is not my true everyday make-up routine. As a teacher I am running around and sweaty everyday, so I usually just put on some foundation and mascara and I’m set. This is more of my everyday weekend or meeting with my friends make-up routine. Please don’t take this too seriously, because I am definitely not a serious make up person (or person in general).
